Young Peoples Homelessness Prevention Service

Resolving problems between young people and families

Bristol Mediation, an independent charity based in Easton, Bristol has been funded by Bristol City Council to run an interim pilot providing a mediation service to young people at risk of homelessness and their families/carers up to the end of June 2017.  The results of this pilot will feed into the learning for future mediation services.

This service is primarily for 16/17 years olds (90% of referrals) however is also available to 16-21 who are care leavers, 18-21 with additional support needs and 22-24 years old’s with learning difficulties, disability or other vulnerabilities.

The service aims to reunite young people with their parents/guardians, help young people and their families/carers work towards improving relationships and communication and enable them to remain at home or facilitate a return home.

We can work with issues including verbal and physical intimidation, abuse and threatening behaviour, relationship breakdowns, communication issues, bullying, drugs and alcohol use, harassment and lifestyle differences.
